Mohrenbraeu Silvester

I really like fall for lots of different reasons: Oktoberfest, Halloween, Hiking, Schlachtparty, etc.
One old tradition that has recently been revived is the so called Brausilvester. In the old days, when there were no cooling systems, you could not brew beer in the summer. You had to wait until it was cooler again and harvest time started and then the new brewing year started.

Our local brewery in Dornbrin, Mohrenbraeu, celebrated their New Year of the brewing season at the end of September and we went to check it out. We took my godfather Armin with us and had a fun time. We first walked through the whole building and got a tour of the museum as well as the current brewing rooms. We also got to try some beer ice cream and everybody got a free beer at the end.

Down into the basement to the museum we went

Old fashioned beer bottles

Testing some beer icecream (it tasted really good)

Ben checking out the exihit

Lots of beer everywhere

Deciding what to eat and drink

Zum Wohl! Prost!

Lunch

It was like a little Oktoberfest in there
