Laternenfest

The first week in November we had our "Laternenfest" at the local kidsgroup. Here is a great description of what it is and why we celebrate it at the beginning of November:

We all got together in the afternoon on November 8th and each kid got to decorate a lantern (Laterne). While the lanterns were drying the kids got to play and the moms got to have coffee and cake and chat.

Once it started to get dark we all lit little candles in the lanterns (I had brought electric ones for my kids) and we then went for a walk around the town and sang our lanternsong. It was really pretty and the kids loved it.

We since have used our lanterns many times and have gone for evening walks with them.

Finn had no interest working on his lantern - he preferred playing

Alissia came to pick us up and went around with us (great help for mama!)

Finn finally got some strips of paper onto his lantern

Lilly was very proud of her lantern

Going for our lantern walk and singing "Ich geh mit meiner Laterne..."

Waiting in line like a big girl
