Laternenfest at home (delayed post)

November 11th is St.Martins Day. This day is celebrated in Austria (and Germany and Switzerland) by the smaller kids.
This is a very sweet tradition where the kids hear about the story of St.Martin (basically how important it is to share), eat oranges and chestnuts, create a little lantern out of paper and go around the block at dusk while singing songs.
We had a Laternenfest at German School, but we decided to have our own on the actual day. We invited our friends and neighbors and had a really nice little celebration.

All the lanterns drying on the counter (lots of glitter glue was used…)

Having a snack before heading out

Ready to go.
